WELCOME TO SUMMER - The occasional newsletter & a freebie

  Dear Reader

WELCOME TO SUMMER !
In Tasmania we seemed to have skipped Spring with many cold nights and rainy days, low temperatures.  Finally it seems Summer has turned up.

As subscribers to my site has grown this year, I am taking this moment to re-introduce myself and to wish you and your loved ones a MERRY CHRISTMAS - may you enjoy good health, joy and creativity in the forthcoming year

Thanks so much for being here and for the support shown to me in word, studio visits and purchases.

Studio visits are most welcome - message me to arrange.

As a small thank you I am sending a small original collage to the first 50 requests - if you wish to receive one, send me your snail mail address and I will post them all out right after Christmas.

 numbers are limited.

What you may not know about me.

I have, over the last 10 years, been a finalist in 20 curated exhibitions, received awards and commendations in some, held 4 solo exhibitions, been a part of 12 group shows and attended 3 residencies.

I post artworks that are available at the art gallery and update regularly as I work through where artworks are and the vagaries of posting.

Over 100 poems of mine have been published and I have places where I post about my art, artist lifestylestudio work and poetry.   We also have a you tube channel with various playlists across the subjects mentioned as well as the creation of artist books and living with #snowcone - a dairy cow in retirement.

THINGS that online ’stuff’ may not necessarily tell you about me.
  • I am an introvert (but I love occasional gatherings or friends visiting)
  • I love to go on #getaways in Tasmania and always head to the beach, somewhere, at least once a year
  • I was an avid reader all my life, however since taking up art I only read non-fiction and poetry - love books on other artists, collage and slow stitching.
  • Current INSPO includes Tacita Dean, William Kentridge, Helen Wright, Roni Horn, Elizabeth Cummings.
  • I  never thought about being an artist so I took up calligraphy via the Digby Stuart College, England for 3 years (in the days of snail mail) - which slowly led me to life-drawing and art
  • I have learnt that I am unable to stay between the lines, I enjoy research, collecting and recording/mapping/tracking
  • I am unafraid of colour
  • i love collage, poetry and slow stitching
  • We watch a lot of crime shows reminding me that in my youth I read, and collected, every single Agatha Christie novel
  • I work every day in my studio and stitch at night in front of the TV
Do you share any of my quirks?  Do you have any questions?    ~~  GINA
