Artist Statement: CONVERSATIONS BY THE CREEK

A growing preoccupation with exploring this place, where the creek runs to the sea, providing a rich source of experience & discovery.

Treasures & images are collected, found along the creek line brought by wind, sand, water & a forest of gum trees.

My work embraces wabi sabi, a personal style of stitching & a 'what if' curiosity.  This leads me to be immersed in the depths of intuitive awareness of things, beyond words.

I continue to explore, experimenting at the edges where abstract marks record my conversations with the elements, carrying an essence of memory.

I exhibited, for the first time, in the Out of Hand Exhibition held by Stitching and Beyond, Hobart.  I have been a member of the group for a few years and have been stitching for many many years; decided for the first time to exhibit.

With over 200 entries in the exhibition I am honoured to have received the Curators Choice Award for this piece
